Discovering how to create and deliver video for the web.

Free Video Converter That Does It All

SUPER by eRightSoft is a do it all open source video encoder. Basically, the SUPER video encoder is a graphical user interface for different encoding engines, such as FFmpeg (the open source video encoder used on most web servers). SUPER can convert almost every imaginable video format to another. The best part of all is that it is free! and does not imply any restrictions or water markings to your videos.

Review

Pros

  • Its free!
  • Converts an endless combination of video formats
  • Ability to batch render (render a list of multiple files)
  • Graphical User Interface (compared to other open source encoders)
  • Automatically suggest what rendering engine would be most optimal per specific encoding situations

Cons

  • Cannot set your own custom bitrate (although there are tons of bitrate options)
  • Must "right-click" and go to "output file saving management" to discover where your files were saved
  • No setting presets for beginners
  • Only works on windows

Overall the SUPER video encoder is a must have tool for anyone who encodes videos into many different formats or is looking for an encoder to encode sometimes "odd" video formats into more common video formats.

Another free GUI for ffmpeg is WinFF which has worked well for me on Windows.

Very cool program. Looks like it would be much more lightweight than the SUPER encoder. Will defiantly download it and check it out.
